    Responsibilities

    The Senior Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) will lead the development of HEOR to support optimal market access and the development and follow through of HTA and P&R submissions in the US / EU. He / she will design, develop, oversee and execute a global HEOR and Market Access Strategic Plans in support of new product launches in coordination with Global Commercial Strategy, Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regional Market Access and the US and International Affiliates. This position will act as HEOR lead across the life cycle of a multiple brands across multiple indications as necessary. The Senior Director will also be a subject matter expert (SME) in value creation related to pharmaceuticals including oncology, with a deep understanding of research related to specialty drugs.

     

    • Develop health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) strategic approaches for Karyopharm’s product(s), while maintaining in-depth knowledge of disease state, market and customer dynamics, and reimbursement issues
    • Design HEOR study criteria and coordinate with clinical development to incorporate appropriate trial endpoints to support market access
    • Collaborate with external investigators on HEOR projects
    • Support and develop HEOR publications regarding product use and reimbursement
    • Ensure U.S./EU evidence strategy alignment with Medical Affairs, Reimbursement, and Regulatory function strategies
    • Support development and execution of the evidence-generation strategy to support clinical and economic value of Karyopharm product(s)
    • Work closely with development, medical affairs, commercial, and market access teams to develop strategies specific to customers and stakeholders
    • Contribute proactively and independently to research planning process and resolution of complex issues, especially as they affect market access decisions and product evidence
    • Design, implement, and manage outcomes research projects, including retrospective database analysis, economic models, chart reviews, and systematic literature reviews
    • Assist with U.S./EU regulatory and payer interactions
    • Support development and revision of AMCP payer dossiers
    • Present health outcomes research findings at scientific congresses and participate in the development and writing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
    • Manage relationships with external consultants to ensure timely completion of high quality projects aligned to strategic objectives
    • Work with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to implement HEOR
    • Remain current on HEOR data sources and analytical methods
    • Follow and comply with all compliance laws and regulations

    Qualifications

    • Master’s or Doctoral degree (Health Economics, Epidemiology, Life Sciences, or Public Health), required
    • 7+ years’ experience in oncology or cancer-related field across functions such as health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, or pricing and reimbursement
    • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience
    • Proven domestic and global launch experience
    • Solid understanding and experience in pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization (may be concurrent with health economics research and strategy experience)
    • Experience in HE/PRO (Health Economics/Patient Reported Outcomes), clinical trial protocol and CRF (Case Report Form) development, and a good understanding of study designs that produce clinically and economically relevant value information in both a development and post-launch time period
    • Solid understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting HEOR and PRO labeling and promotional claims
    • Experience with HEOR strategy and implementation in U.S./EU
    • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of the US and Ex-US health care systems and financing mechanisms
    • Experience in dealing with pricing, reimbursement and HTA (Health Technology Assessment) in US and major EU markets is a plus
    • Solid methodological, quantitative and analytical skills combined with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply health economic research principles to support the commercial enterprise
    • Proven ability to think strategically and make sound health economic and business decisions
    • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
