Selinexor, Karyopharm’s lead candidate, has been administered to patients with hematologic malignancies or solid tumors in clinical trials worldwide. Karyopharm is currently preparing for its first potential U.S. commercial launch in 2019.

     

    The Finance Manager will assist in the financial management and business partnership support of the Commercial team.  The Manager is expected to help teams understand and manage their annual budgets.  The Manager will develop both budgets and models associated with Commercial and associated support activities.  Additionally, he/she will play a key role in the monthly close process for the Commercial groups.  This includes analysis, accrual generation & posting, and reconciliations.  He/she will also assist in process and system improvements to enhance visibility into financial performance and increase financial management efficiency. This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Commercial.

    Responsibilities

    The Finance Manager will work closely with the Commercial functions to accomplish the following:

    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts.
    • Review monthly actuals and generate accruals as appropriate, including posting of journals, and reconciliations
    • Analyze monthly departmental results vs. budget or forecast; develop and disseminate standard reporting packages.
    • Ensure that teams understand their performance relative to those budgets and assist them in making course corrections where necessary.
    • Work with accounting team and improve processes around the accrual process
    • Manage the review, approval and execution of Commercial vendor contracts and purchase orders.
    • Address issues with vendor contracts, billings, forecasts, etc.
    • Coordinate with HR to ensure updated headcount plans reflected in financial forecasts
    • Proactively identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiencies and submit recommendations.
    • Assist in the development and application of inventory accounting and Revenue Recognition policies
    • Ad hoc assignments and responsibilities as necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a demonstrated quantitative finance background.
    • 2 – 4 years’ experience supporting Commercial Finance within the clinical research/biotech/ pharmaceutical industry OR a CPA coming out of public accouting.
    • Proven knowledge in monthly closing, financial reporting and planning/forecasting.
    • Inventory experience a plus
    • Possess outstanding analytical, communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong modeling and data management skills in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Desire to grow professionally and personally; a willingness to give and receive feedback
    • Ability to multi task in a fast growing rapid paced organization.
    • High self-motivation, keen attention to detail, good time management skills and a willingness to go the extra mile.
    • ERP / purchasing system implementation a plus; experience with MS Dynamics GP, R&D Logic, ReQLogic, Concur, other purchasing systems also advantageous
