Role Overview & Key Functions:

The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a strategic, field-based commercial leader responsible for shaping and executing Karyopharm’s external engagement strategy with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and institutional stakeholders across the Western U.S. Regions. Operating as an expert partner within the Commercial organization, the TLL drives scientific exchange, peer-to-peer programming, and market insights that inform brand strategy and enhance the reach and credibility of Karyopharm’s oncology portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Peer-to-Peer Marketing, this individual serves as a critical connector between the field and headquarters—translating external market intelligence into actionable insights that advance strategic priorities across Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and Market Access. During the first 6–9 months, focus will center on relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM), with expansion into myelofibrosis and additional indications as the portfolio evolves.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic KOL Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison for regional and national thought leaders; build, sustain, and evolve long-term partnerships that shape the external perception and adoption of Karyopharm’s therapies.
  • Insight Generation and Strategy Integration: Synthesize field insights to guide brand planning, messaging evolution, and peer-to-peer strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial and medical objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a strategic partner to Marketing, Sales, and Market Access in designing and implementing HCP engagement initiatives that drive scientific credibility and commercial impact.
  • Peer-to-Peer Excellence: Lead the planning and execution of speaker programs and congress engagements; ensure high-quality, compliant delivery across all touchpoints.
  • Regional Market Development: Identify and develop opportunities to expand Karyopharm’s footprint within academic centers and community practices throughout the Western U.S. Regions.
  • Coaching and Enablement: Provide field coaching and mentorship related to speaker development, KOL engagement best practices, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Congress and Conference Leadership: Represent Karyopharm at major scientific congresses, leading engagement strategy and post-congress insight dissemination.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a strong background in oncology commercial roles (e.g., marketing, sales leadership, medical liaison, or thought leader engagement).
  • Proven success in strategic KOL development and external engagement, including national or regional account leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate field intelligence into actionable strategic insights that inform brand and portfolio decisions.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence across a matrixed organization at senior levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage a large, multi-state territory and operate with high autonomy.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50–60% of the time, including congresses, customer engagements, and internal meetings.
  • Ability, with or without accommodation, to work in clinical and healthcare environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSN, MSc, PharmD, or equivalent).
  • Established relationships within hematology/oncology, particularly in multiple myeloma and myelofibrosis.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally to design and execute HCP engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated track record of strategic field leadership and operating independently at the regional or national level.
  • Based within the Western U.S. Regions (e.g., CA, AZ, NV, CO, WA, OR).
